I have a bunch of what I think are chalices in my tank. Looks like a few people here like this type of coral

I took the following pics and am hoping that you can tell me if they are all chalices and if they have names or not.

Also, what makes a chalice bulge up vs. grow flatter?

Nice chalices! Not sure of names for any of them or why the different growth patterns you are seeing ;)

The 3rd one down looks like a Hollywood stunner. Its a fast growing one. I just sold mine to make room for new ones. Great looking chalice if you have the room.

Very nice chalices... The WM looks nice with flash on pics.. I wonder what that will look like under 20k pics

Thanks for the replies all.

The third one down is definitely the fastest growing of all of them.

What is WM? which one are you talking about? I don't have 20K bulbs. My metal halides are 175W 14K with very old 140W VHO actinic that need replaced.

WM stands for watermelon. We call many types of Chalice that grow with a green rim, watermelon type chalice. +1 on the 3rd being called the Hollywood Stunner, and it is also known as the Firefly Chalice. It is by far the fastest growing chalice I have.
