Hi - I recently bought two coral … vid below; don’t know if they are just not happy and acclimating or if something else is wrong with them? How do I get them to open up?!

The coral is completely receded. Looks like a goniopora. How old is the tank? What kind of lighting and flow? Video looks like low flow….. Goni like medium flow and lighting. It’s a picky coral, it won’t open up until it’s happy

Little over a year and I got my canister filter return plus two Tunze Turbelle NanoStream Pump 6015 so idk why it’s not happy!

tank looks super new with dry rock, any other tank information? how about a full tank shot to get better perspective of the system? IMO I think your water values are high, why not shoot for NSW parameters?how are you testing ammonia?

Tank does look New. What was your phosphate level ? Salinity ? Temp? Lighting settings ? And how did you cycle the tank ?

Don’t know what NSW is … there’s a few piece of dry rock but most was live. For ammonia I have an api test kit.

I don’t have a phosphate tester, salinity is 35 ppt, temp 79; cycled the tank slowly with fish and CUC eventually added

lol I'm always hoping for that! give it time and keep up with waterchanges is the easiest advice, tweak the formula from there.

I'd start with easy corals, if things are giving you trouble start from the bottom and work your way up. it takes practice and patience.

good luck, more advice will roll in.

BUMP;)
