New to forums and fish

Sweet well if you have any questions feel free to contact me, Sometimes it might take a day but i will get back to you.
Thanks very much all advice is appreciated. You may regret that offer as I ask a lot! I'm pretty sure my LFS are considering changing their phone number! :)

I think that is a red linkia starfish. If it is, they won't really take foods but you can try a small piece of clam. They cruise around and eat bio films. Again, your tank may be too new for that starfish to find enough food.
You can also try to feed the tubeworms but they normally eat tiny particles 24 hours a day. In the sea they do fine, but if you tried to feed them like that in a tank, you would screw up your water. Those two creatures are not really able to survive in your tank for long. You will be better with crabs and shrimp as they eat much larger foods and you can target feed them.
You could get a small arrow crab, they are cool and you can feed it small meaty things. They are easy to care for and comparatively safe in your tank with what you have.
Great thanks for the advice. I've only got hermits and emerald crabs at the moment I've seen mixed opinions on the emeralds, mine seem quite happy munching away on the rocks at the moment but obviously not sure how they'll do longer term. I'm starting to think I may have bitten off more than I can chew! I have the enthusiasm and have spent hours and hours reading but still feel like I know a minscule amount and there's soooooo much conflicting information! I'm not looking to achieve a showcase aquarium I just wanted a little piece of the sea for my own enjoyment and hopefully not kill anything along the way, which is looking less and less likely. :)

Welcome to R2R
+1 on feeding more meaty foods, if the Foxface is nipping at it, it may have some algae growing on the tube that hes picking at
Yes foxy and his bestie the yellow tang seem to love nipping at the tube although I've buried him more now as well as feeding them more meaty food which seems to have distracted them for now. He appears to be trying to build himself a new tube at the moment.

When i tranfered tanks after a year and a half mine had made a tube longer than a 2 litre bottle. You can bury it alot

I have had emeralds that were great clean up crew members and some that reminded me of the crabs in "Finding Nemo". Right now my algae is under control, so I don't have one, but they have been great for bubble algae and GHA in my experience.

There is a lot, and there does seem to be a lot of conflicting information. I've been at aquaria for 32 years and thought I had a pretty good handle on things until I started a reef tank, lol. It's a whole new set of rules. Just remember as it's said on here a lot, "nothing good happens fast in a reef tank."

BTW, foxface rabbitfish are one of my favorite species. Unfortunately, I don't have a tank large enough for one (36 gallon/136 l).
When you said you weren't looking for a show tank, but just wanted a bit to enjoy. That is my philosophy. My wife calls my tank my 'old man television' (even though I'm only 44). You will have rough patches. You will get discouraged. Give yourself permission to make mistakes and learn from them. It's part of the hobby.

Thank you for the reply :)
The emeralds are doing an amazing job bless them! Foxy is my favourite not that I let the others know that of course but I love how he seems to show his emotions through his changing colours, like the boovs in the Disney film 'home' (I have toddlers so everything is related to children's films).
It's so easy to get carried away and I must admit I do struggle to leave the fish store without something as its all so fascinating and pretty but it's equipment I need to save for now and let my little piece of the sea get settled some more.

What kind?
I've got a 4 foot tank so getting 2 of these. The LFS recommended them.
