Hi guys!! Thought I'd share some of our process so far...
90 gallon tank, 30 gallon sump.
We own an Artisan Market and this is a display tank we created custom for the store.
We upcycled it from an old, mid century piano. The actual tanks were purchased used from a hobbyist here in our area. The tank was running with lights off and a heater. The only thing left was around 100 lbs. of live rock when we purchased the set up.
We tossed all the original sand and water & kept only the live rock. We added new live sand & R.O. water when we set it back up. We set it up and ran it with the live rock for 3 weeks before adding fish.
Our current fish include a Firefish, An Engineer Goby, a Foxface, & a Mandarine. We do plan to add several others soon.
The tank has been set up here for 2 months.
We've added snails & crabs to the display tank.
We rebuilt the sump compartments & added Chaeto, a crab & a few snails along with a large pack of pods from Pod Your Reef.
We've had some trial & error adding fish; even though we thought we were good at researching who gets along with who and which to add when. Turns out, we could do better
We've rehomed a butterfly already and we currently have a terror of a tang who is harassing our Foxface. We are looking for a new home for him.
This isn't my first go around with saltwater but it is my husband's. I've been out of the hobby for over a decade so lots of new stuff to learn...
Looking forward to learning from the hobbyists here
