After a couple of years of owning a planted tank, I decided to switch over to a reef tank. I have been doing a couple months of research trying to choose the correct equipment for my build. After finding a 29g tank with a stand on craigslist for 100$, I decided to give it a try and turn it into a successful reef tank. The tank has since been set up for 5 days.
My equipment list includes:
29g Tank
24" Ecoxotic Panorama Marine LED
AC 70 Fuge Mod
2 hydor koralia 425 gph circulation pumps
100w heater
CaribSea Arag-Alive 20-Pound Special Grade Reef Sand, Bimini Pink
API Saltwater Master Test Kit
~25 pounds of base rock (bought from LFS)
~5 pounds of live rock (bought from LFS)
I also bought a bag of salt and ro/di water from my LFS.
After letting it sit for a couple days, I decided to add a piece of shrimp from my local deli. I also added my AC 70 fuge mod, my quickly took it off, as I am still trying to figure out if the DAP product I used was aquarium safe.
Anyways, this is my set up thus far. I have been testing everyday, but have not seen a spike in my ammonia yet (I know this may take a while and will be sitting patiently waiting for it to happen). Any input would be greatly appreciated.
