My wife has decided since we upgraded to a 75gal tank that she wants to do in tank macroalgae refugium. So the question is will my lights that are used for coral work with the macroalgae or do I need a different light? Will that mess with lights for coral? I have noopysche k7 minis. Thanks

A light with the right spectrum and intensity will grow corals and algae in your tank so that includes macro algae. Of course it will be competing with your corals for nutrients.

Yes it will work and probably work well. Different species of macroalgae grow better under certain colors (some blue, some red, some with green mixed in, etc.)

Algae, including macro algae grow faster in a bit different light spectrum than corals, but they will still grow under “ coral light”.

What spectrum are your lights? I am not familiar with the specifications on your light in your display.

I grow coral in 6K & 10K spectrum. Get specific with which macro you wish to grow. Read the book on growing macro:

PS. Lights on for 2 minutes: first picture is 75G tank set up for 25 years at 10K color rendition. Second picture is 30G display at 6K

PSS: After 52 years of Reefing I have found less intensity is better than more.
