I used to have a 100g reef tank. I enjoyed it and had spent several years building it up. But then came hurricane Ike. No power for 3 weeks and gas stations being out of gas for a week made it hard to keep the tank running and it eventually crashed. I sold/gave away most of my equipment and never really got back into the hobby. That is... until last week when a friend decided they no longer wanted a tank.

So I received an "established" 60g fowlr tank from a friend. Moving it was fun.

It has a 4 inch sand bed and minimal rock.
Livestock includes:
  • a velvet damsel
  • yellow tail damsel
  • yellow damsel
  • zebra damsel
  • 2 clownfish
  • 2 urchins
  • a few snails

Equipment:
(coming soon)

Kept all the sand/rock intact. Haven't had a minicycle yet. I decided to add additional rock. The fish love all the new places they have to hide and have taken up their own little homes where they sleep at night. The large damsel actually dug a hole under the rock to get in and out of his cavern.

Mushrooms are doing great. Kenya tree stays condensed and isn't opening. Water parameters are all within range.

The Velvet Damsel has eaten all of the algae, even after heavy feedings. Will start putting algae sheets in there for him to munch on.

Side shot from outside the tank. Tshirts work great for cleaning the outside. The urchins and snails keep the inside clean.

Redid my rock to allow more flow. Also has more "shelfs" to put coral.

Added some star polyps and acro and a clam.

2 losses :(
One of the clown fish decided it was a good idea to jump out of the tank.

Had to get rid of the Velvet damsel, he enjoyed nipping on the corals too much.

Other than that, everything is doing all right. calc/mag stays a little high without dosing. And phos is a little high so added in a media reactor with some phosguard.

I'll get a better pic tomorrow of the front. My camera doesn't focus too well with only the blues on when the house lights are out. The fish are sleeping though [emoji14]
