After being out of the hobby for several years I got the itch a few months back after purchasing a new house to jump back in. I didn't want to go super big and spend a "ton" of money which i know is a relative term when it comes to saltwater. After months of looking on FB Marketplace and Craigslist I found a deal I just couldn't pass on. An IM Nuvo 30L AIO with stand is just want I needed! It came with 2 Sicce Syncra Silent 1.0 return pumps, IM Spinstreams, IM Media Basket, and IM Filter socks. I am not a hug fan of filter socks but will use them for setup and change to filter floss down the road. As of now I plan to add 20lbs of pink Fiji sand and some salt water to get the cycle started. As for the rest of the set up I haven't decided on lighting which has been my biggest hang up. I wont be housing any high end corals so the demand for a super expensive light isn't there. I will eventually add a powerhead just for flow along the length of the tank and an ATO just for the ease of things.

After several mentions of adding more rock in the 30L Club thread I thought I would give it a try with some leftover rock that I had. Not sure how I feel about a wall but it adds significantly more spots to put coral and places for fish to hide and swim though.

So here we go! Got the tank wet tonight! Waiting on lights and some other things but the cycle is started. Welllll not really. I have no source of ammonia in the tank yet. My LFS wanted me to buy some clowns today to get it started and dump in some bacteria but I'm not sold on the idea. Also pretty surprised how fast the water cleared up in only 2 hours.

You can cycle with Dr Tim’s and fish or do a fishes cycle with ammonia. I’ve done it both ways. With Dr Tim’s and fish the ammonia only barely shows up, only nitrites and nitrates

Lights are just coming on but things are going good. Several frags waiting to grow out. Need a skimmer I think and just starting to get out of the ugly phase.

Welcome to R2R! Beautiful tank! This was the tank I started with. I loved it!! Unfortunately, I hit a corner and cracked a seam.

You should start a build thread. It’s pretty much what you’re doing now, but you get a cool badge that links to your thread.
