New to me Red Sea Max Nano

Hi all,

I missed a build thread with my first ever saltwater tank the Fluval Evo 13.5. But I won’t miss this one!

I purchased a used Red Sea Max Nano yesterday from my LFS. Will be cleaning it tomorrow, and start the process of aquascaping the rock. Have been watching a lot of videos, and this time I will not be using epoxy(I am awful at it), instead I will be using superglue to get the initial shape, and then use the mortar to ensure it holds.

Rock is Caribsea Life Rock.
Sand is Carib sea Pink Fiji.


I will post pictures as it progresses, for constructive feed back, and any tips from more experienced reefers.

Livestock is looking like it will be LPS dominant system, with a few sticks up top, no plans for any softies yet. Rock nems for the bottom rock work, Fish I am still undecided

I have a Hygger wave maker I plan to use for this. I am also planning on upgrading the return nozzle to an adjustable dual nozzle with random flow generators.

Yes, that makes sense. The Max Nano seems like a great tank.

The only issue I have is seating the skimmer, it wants to just float up. Do you have that issue?

No, I haven't had that issue. Mine seats well in the back sump. The problem that I have with mine is that is creating microbubbles. It has getting better though, at the beginning it was a lot of microbubbles but is better now.

So the controller that came with it had one switch broke, so I replaced it. Then I noticed I do t have the little air tank adjuster. Currently it just fills the cup real fast. So on the hunt for one of those.

Not just yet, I'm currently waiting to move in with my partner in the next six months, and then I'll be starting it up! Just waiting now, I've got my tank, rocks, nearly all of my equipment, it's just teasing me at this point!!

Placed order with Red Sea for air valve for the skimmer intake. Waiting for that to come in so I can fine tune the skimmer to run a little more dry.

The air valve came in. It’s is no producing skim mate, without filling the cup up so fast.
