I have a 10 gal w a heater, power head, marine land hob w bio wheel, ammonia alert and thermometer

I started w fresh saltwater and placed a sponge that I had sitting in my display’s sump for a couple weeks

And dosed ammonia per instructions to get to 2ppm
It’s been

Anything I’m missing? Or advice
I would like this to be a permanent qt

Sounds like a solid setup so far. One thing I would recommend if you haven't already would be to get some PVC fittings and put them in there for places for your fish to hide and swim through :)

10 gallons is really small.

If it's the largest you can work with, then for best results I wouldn't QT any more than 1-2 very small fish. If possible, upgrade to something from 20 and 50 gallons.

If you're planning on an extended-time QT then it also needs to be outfitted like a fish tank, not a stereotypical "prison like" QT tank. Use something for caves/hiding like @crabs suggested, but also use a few fake plants in the open space. It doesn't have to be fancy, but the tank should be somewhat naturalistic.

All this is to reduce stress, which will always maximize your results.

(Hang on to the 10 gallon for administering meds.)
