Hi. I'm Dan from Bellevue,NE. I have had a 265 gallon (84"x24"x30") freshwater aquarium in my basement for some time. Here's a picture.

My wife and I are planning on moving so the tank had to be taken down.

Instead of putting it in storage until we find a new place I convinced my boss to set it up at work and he agreed to fund the cost to convert it to saltwater. I will be using this thread as I progress with the build.

Tank all moved to work.

Making one of my 40 breeder sumps work for saltwater by adding a skimmer section, bubble trap, and ~20 gallon fuge.

Sumps all done and under the stand. They are connected in the back with 2" pvc to kee the water level the same in each return section.

Left sump with fuge.

Right sump with 4 filter socks and 500w titanium heater.

Tank filled and running. Also have a bubble magus curve 9 skimmer.

250lbs of Fiji premium live rock

Rubble rock and chaeto in the fuge.

Plans and oak to skin the stand and make the canopy.

Lighting is a 5' 8 bulb t5 tek light that will be hung from the ceiling and sit inside the canopy.

Welcome to R2R!!
Nice setup you have;)

Thank you all. I will be working on hanging my lights and skinning the stand this weekend. I also got an ip camera so I can view the tank while I am at home and make sure all is well since I'm about 25miles from work.

Welcome to R2R! Awesome tank..

Light hangers showed up today. Working on the stand and canopy doors next.

Welcome to R2R, Good luck getting that tank back from your boss when it is all up and running....he did underwrite the live stock right? You might have to buy a new tank in the future! Great start.

I think his boss will be happy to give it back because no one's going to want to work anymore...they'll all be staring at that beautiful tank!!!!

Beautiful job so far!

Got the doors mounted. The hooks hold them in place and the 1x4 on the bottom sets the height.

Had my diatom outbreak. And it was bad.

Got a clean up crew from reef cleaners and they are slowly working away at it.

Also got a few chromis.

Finished staining the stand and trimming it out. Doors are still wet and propped up to dry.

Next up is new bulbs for my light. Ordered four blue plus, two coral plus, one actinic, and one purple plus. Should be here tomorrow.
