Hi guys,

Im new to R2R. Been lurking around here for a little while and I figured it was time to get social! I'm setting up a new tank now after a few years out of the hobby. I originally started with a 34g Solana and quickly upgraded to a 120 once the addiction hit! This all started roughly in 2009 and I got out of the hobby in 2011. I got out due to moving around to much and overall cost of the hobby was adding up since I was addicted to high end corals. Well guess what?! It't time to plunge back in!!!

So my new set up so far is a 24X24X18H Reef Savvy build. I bought this used but like new off of the local classifieds in order to get a high end tack for a decent price. This came with a custom stand and sump. All I had to add was the plumbing and the return pump as well as contents/lights/extra circulation. I also added a Smart ATO.

So far for the lights and the circulation; circulation I would like the MP40, for the lights I was trying to decide between the Kessil A360w with the controller, or the Radion XR30 Pro G3. I've seen pro's on both. So far everyone seems to think that the Radion is better but those are mainly Radion users. I havent heard any complaints on the Kessils either so it's a tough decision.

As far as contents I have mainly added black Hawaiian sand and some live rock.

Critter wise... Thats a tough one. Fish wise I would like about 5 but its just so hard to pick. I deff want a pair of clowns and a blue spotted jaw fish. Other than that I think I would need an assassin like a 6 line. Other than that I haven't decided. The only other problem is that I really wanted to have some sexy shrimp. I think Im going to go ahead and try it out as long as I add them before the 6 line, we sill see...

Coral wise, I'm still in love with chalices... That addiction has never wore off. I don't know what it is but its strong stuff haha... So I am thinking about zoas/palys, chalices, acans and going to try for a few SPS. We will see.

Anyways, I think I've talked enough for now. Please chime in if you have any suggestions. It's always welcome. I'm sure there have been plenty of advancements since my time in SW aquariums. Here is a couple of pictures of my tank. Let me know what you think!

Thanks,

Welcome to reef2reef!!!

Hey guys,

For a quick update since I've been out of town. I've added the lighting and the circulation. I went ahead and got the Ecotech Radion XR30W Pro and the Ecotech MP40W. I also added a Smart ATO just to make life easier.

I just added the lighting last night so I still have to program it. Next on the list is a decent skimmer. Anyone have any ideas on a good skimmer? I plan on keeping a mixed LPS/SPS reef and I plan on having 5 or so fish and like to feed. What do you guys think? I've never been a big skimmer fan but I figured it's not worth the risk not to have one. Let me know what you guys think!
