Hey all, new to R2R.
My name is Matt, I am a 28 year old database developer from Wisconsin. Served 5 years in the USMC conducting 3 combat tours in Iraq, during my time in the service I learned to dive and really grew my fascination of the reefs. My original intentions for getting into the hobby were to be an active proponent in the sustaining our reefs. Though I must admit, coming home to my reef after a long day at work in this ridiculous Wisconsin winter is pretty nice too!
Current 180 sps dominant mixed reef with a 75g sump and 40g low flow pod propagation fuge is the first tank I have kept since a beta in a bowl with some marbles when I was young. Everything from the baffles in the sump to the plumbing was a DIY and a huge learning experience for me. I took things very slowly and methodically as I knew literally nothing coming into this.
Tank has been established for over a year now and is thriving, I am achieving fantastic growth and coloration. I currently am keeping a very fish light bioload being 2 ora bred ocellaris clownfish, a spotted mandarin dragonet, a lineatus wrasse, kauderns cardinal, diamond goby, tailspot blenny and 3 anthia which are currently in my 40gb QT. Stocking is not finished as I plan to introduce a second wrasse and lastly a yellow and powder blue tang -- possibly a female mate for my dragonet.
I am also currently putting together plans for an eel dominant 200g custom with 4" viewing area and clear pvc under the 10" substrate. Will be keeping two zebra moray and 6-10 garden eels fairly exclusively in the tank.
Started following R2R on facebook and figured it was time to sign up over here to share some of the tips and tricks I have gathered with my reef as well as continue to learn from all of you.
