hello all,

I'm a fairly new saltwater aquarium enthusiast. I recently acquired a 15gal nano tank. My first learning is the clown fish are not nice, as well as smaller tanks are harder to stabilize. I went out this weekend and got a 40gal innovative marine. It's a really easy setup, now I'm waiting on cycling. My livestock and coral I have : flaming scallop, sifting star, mandarin(green), 2-emerald crabs, sea cucumber, and one clown. Corals is Superman BRA, Gobstopper, Duncan, frogspawn, neon candy cane, 3 different types of Zoas, Hawaiian green Poly, anemone, some other LPS and SPS. I haven't identified yet. I'm learning a lot, the biggest one is figuring out what fish are compatible with each other in the tank. I had two clownfish but the biggest one was a bully. I think it took out my damsels. Also something got to my fire shrimp. Anyone have any ideas?

Welcome. Sometimes clowns will bully each other if they are both females. One will twitch when it gets pecked by the female (larger one). Make sure they're the same species as well. I believe a percula and an ocellaris will coexist, but someone might want to double check me on that. Happy Reefing!

Welcome. :-)

Clowns in nanos can become very aggressive. I have had clowns not even allow a cleaner shrimp to live in a 30 gallon tank. Twice I have had to rehome large established clowns/females due to aggression.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I rehomed the bigger clown and yes they both were perculas. Now the smaller clown just today took out my cleaner shrimp. It wasnt cheap and im learning the hard way.

Welcome home! You will love it here! We need pics! :)

Fire shrimp tend to hide a lot. They're somewhat more sensitive than other shrimp as well.

*Welcome to Reef2Reef @Brose332002 !* Learning the hard way is tough and expensive. You will find friendly people here, many willing to share their mistakes with you.
Regarding your fire shrimp.Keep in mind when inverts molt they are more susceptible to bullying.Make sure you have plenty of hiding spots for tiny creatures to stay safe while their new exoskeleton hardens.Best of luck!
