Hi All, thanks for having me, R2R seems like a very good forum/site and I hope I will re-learn what I've forgotten in the past 17 years or so. When I was about 15-16 years old I started with freshwater and gradually graduated to saltwater. I've very successfully kept saltwater fish for about 10 years (I'm in my late 40's you do the math) but had to quit when my second child was born. I gave all my fish away to a friend and never went back (kinda sad cause the fish died within weeks after giving them to him). My two favorite fish were blue angelfish that I raised from a juvenile and a niger trigger that I use to hand feed. Anyways now that my children are much older and my son is showing interest, Ive decided to take up the hobby again.
So for Christmas my son got me a new 55 gallon tank (which will be going back as I still have all of my old tanks/equipment). This brings me to my first question, I have few tanks that have been sitting dry for 15 years (including a 55 gallon that I plan to use) assuming the silicone is not cracked and the tank does not leak, can I use the 55 gallon tank? or I'm just asking for trouble and it will leak in the near future?
BTW - for the past few years I've restored few Pontiac's my other hobby - so if you have any "old" car questions I can help.
Thanks,
Jack

Later today I'll post pics of the tank and how I left untouched for the past 15 years.

Welcome to R2R, congrats on your new tank...
I would definitely run a leak test on that old 55 gallon first before making any plans around it. Safety first;)

Welcome to R2R;)

Thanks for the welcome, I need to figure out how to post pics - is a hosting site required?
