Hello,
Just joined the group and posted a question(s) for setting up a tank. Thought I would introduce myself. My name is Tony Barrera. Reside in upstate NY. Had a salt water tank 30 years ago and looking to get back in. Boy oh boy have things seemed to have changed. Very confused!
I am a retired police officer, and I am currently the associate pastor at Brunswick Baptist church in Brunswick NY. I am a wood worker and a salt water fish tank lover. Looking around the stores has me more confused than ever. No more filter hanging off the back of the tank! Looking to learn anew and set up either a 55 or 75 gallon reef aquarium. So, all help appreciated! Thanks, Tony

Welcome to R2R!
If your tank is up and running in time you should check out the Frag Farmers Market in Storrs, CT on 3/5. You will not find a show with more corals anywhere in New England! Even if the tank isn't up...its a great time!

Welcome to the family!

Welcome home, you will love it here!

Welcome aboard, Tony!

I had a saltwater tank about the same time you did - the undergravel, the HOB filter ... they did their job, but just barely. The coral skeletons and plastic seaweeds have been replaced with liverock, older coral skeletons with bacteria - and, if you've got the good stuff, a host of other living things inside. That, and the sand below it, are our filters now - which still seems odd to me, but I'm watching it at work in my own new system! I've got things growing in my living room that I only dreamed of then . . . and I'm loving it.

Hope you do too!

~Bruce
