Hi guys I've always had fresh water tanks. Too scared to try reef but I finally did and I'm struggling with algae that was on some rocks I bought. I did a 60% water change on Saturday after removing and scrubbing the rocks. How do I now keep this thing in check

What are your testing parameters? PO4(Phosphates)? How long has your tank been going?

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

Algae feed on nutrients. Some of those nutrients leach from the rocks, especially on newer aquariums. Plenty of opinions on how to handle this but it would help to know more about your system. How old is your system? Do you use RODI for your salt mix and makeup water? What lights are you running on how long per day? Do you have a clean up crew? How many fish and how do you feed them?

Welcome to R2R!! Glad you made the jump to the dark side.

BRS 52 weeks of reefing is always a good series to watch and learn A LOT!

check out specifically week 48.

Following just to get more info. Just want to say Brew12 has REALLY helped me out ALOT and is STILL doing so!!!!! BTW brew12 things are looking better parameter wise in my tank and I'm gonna try turning lights on around 3pm and back off at 10:30 pm and go dark at night. Thanks for all your help, info and suggestions!!!!!
