Hello, I am new to R2R I signed up a couple day ago (haven't posted yet)
I have been playing with fish for just coming on 8 years now! I've been in the FW for all of that, anywhere from BB tanks, to fully stocked jungles running off fertilizer and carbon (even low tech tanks), to breeding shrimp!
But I decided to test the salt waters of a reef, I have started and cycled my tank with no lights and a live fish for a month now; and to my surprise still battled nutrient export issues (scrubbing away thick brown algae everyday (not dinos!). It's a good day when you see your tank in the morning and everything just clicks! Or so the test kits say
I started with a HOB filter for cheap and then started to build my own equipment, I enjoy the DIY portion of the hobby very mush so! I built my own CO2 systems with citric acid and baking soda, also yeast and sugar solutions. I build my own sumps, reactors, tanks and do all my own plumbing.
This forum is one of many that I have spent countless hours reading article after article, trying to learn and see what everyone has working and what hasn't worked
