Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I'm new to the saltwater hobby, and have had my tank up and running for about 8 months now. If you have any advice or tips it would be greatly appreciated. Happy Reefing!!

I got my rock from Tampabaysaltwater.com. One of my best investments, I wish I had bought more live rock.

Nice! I have heard good things about them. I am personally a big fan of adding biodiverse live rock to start a tank. Not a purist though. There are many ways to skin a fish.

I actually did research on here to find out what was the best way to start a tank. It felt like I skipped through the cycling process. But I will say I took my time before I added corals and fish.

Good. Even with live rock and an “instant” or “skip” cycle it is still important to let the rocks mature for a while if you can. Patience is huge!

Still getting the hang of coral placement, what corals are harder to take care of, and identification of corals. And side note my live rock came with a black sea urchin(I think he is one of the coolest things in my tan to be honest lol) is he good to keep?

They are okay to keep. But just be careful that you do not get stung by it.

For this reason alone is why I will not have one in my tank.
