Hey Guys and Gals,

Been reading alot on your forum and time to introduce myself.

I started my first reef tank about 4 months ago with a used 75 bow front along with existing LR, live sand and 50 gals of existing water. I thought this was agreat way to start. Even a fish came with the deal. Ha was that the hard way to get started.

The fish was a psuedo chromis and I had to break the entire tank down to catch him after he killed anything that I placed in with him!

And the live rock, full of aptasia! Didn't know what hit me until there were at least 10 dozen of them! Got a file fish and 10 peep shrimp and in 2 weeks all gone. File Fish actually starved to death after he ate them all. I tried to give him away but no takers. The shrimp are still in the tank and thriving.

Next step I got 5 blue damsels and 5 greeen damsels. I figured well let the strong survive while I got the water parameters down pat. After 1 month there are 2 blues and 3 greens left and they seem to be doing ok together even though 1 of the blues tries to be a bully. Then I added a lawnmower blenny to keep algea in check and he's doing great. None of the devil fish seem to pay him any attention and they don't mess with the shrimp.

Have added some zosa's and a red brick cyph., frogskin and a pink, green and 1 other birdsnest and a green pavo(sp). After 2 weeks they have grown alittle bit and still have good color.

I have 2 Jabeo SW-8 powerheads and a 850 gph retun pump which is piped to a corner overflow which has a Y fitting to disperse more even flow. The Jabeos are wifi'd together and I just ordered a newer DC Jabeo return pump that I can wifi to the powerheads.

I do need to invest in a better LED someday. Currently have a Fluval that claims to have 25k color temp. SB reefs is in my home town so I will eventually have them build me something when I get into higher level corals.

Thats it for now. I do have a question for the group. Since it doesn't look like the devil fish are going anywhere soon what would be a good fish to add to this family? I really like the bleeny and would like something along that line.

I'll have to say this is the best shape as far as water clarity and good parameters I have had since starting up this tank. Now if I can keep it that way. The flow is set up good now with the returns hitting the back and front glass and the power pumps aimed at the front glass from both sides.

Hello and welcome.

A wrasse would be a good option as well as a dwarf angel(if you don't have much for corals or dont plan on it) they are said to be reef safe but with caution because any angel can develop a taste. Lamarck's Angelfish
(Genicanthus lamarck) is a good option.
