I am trying to set up a 30 gallon reef and I am not sure about setting up the live rock properly. I have posted some picks here for advice. I have tried to give lots of nooks and cave in the rock....

Not to be mean, but it looks bad. Essentially looks like you just dumped the rock in there. It's ultra dense (meaning poor biofilter, especially regarding denitrification) and you have way too much in there. I hope you didn't pay a lot for it.

I pulled it out of a couple of down fish only salt tanks... So i have no extra money out on the rock... I ether had it or was given to me

Your just starting and i would say its a good start, you were smart to get live rock from a friend. The only problem i see is that it seems like there is too much rock in the tank so you will have issues with the flow in the tank. Your off to a good start, just make a bucket of salt water to store the rocks in (so the bacteria on the rock doesn't die) and start adding the rock one at a time until you get a clean aquascape that supports decent flow. You're on the right track, just keep posting pictures and we will provide feedback.

I pulled out some and put this together, one of my problems is i have very few medium sized rocks but alot of fist sized and two that are bigger than my head....
