I'm Geoff and am currently setting up a 75 gallon (likely mixed) but not 100% yet, reef tank. I've had freshwater tanks for years and actually bought my first book on saltwater marine aquarium keeping 5 years ago. I've really only recently (8 mon.) started to seriously put time in on the forums, online videos, scientific/research articles (etc). I've learned a lot more than I ever expected and still feel like I know nothing:cry:! But I suppose that's what makes this so exciting. For me it's that two people with two completely different views on how to keep a tank can both have thriving systems. It comes down to the aquarist's habits and how meticulously thought out their entire design is, from plumbing to livestock. I am not claiming to be any expert I am learning and still know very little but I look forward to getting more involved as my build continues to progress.

My setup was bought used off craigslist a 75 gallon internal o.f 48x18x21 for 250$. It came with everything from the previous owners setup including a 8x54w 48" tek t5 fixture, stand, 2 smaller refugium light fixtures, sump, mag 7.5, 3 koralias and a bunch of smaller items as well.
I have since purchased a rkl system, trigger sump (from friend), Reef Octopus nwb-150 sss, and all the new plumbing and cleaning supplies (vinegar) I used to get it back in nice condition. I'm waiting on mostly small things like bulbs, sand and some test kits before I can think about cycling a starting the tank. Oh and I have a couple jabao wp25's coming in a group buy that will replace these koralias (they're small). Pics to follow

Had it in the garage for a couple weeks ran with vinegar a couple times leak tested and put a new water proof coat on the stand before I brought it inside and put it here. re plumbed it with an aquatop pump a friend who owns a pet store sold me. 1" pvc drain on the left with 1 1/4" durso style drain above the bulkhead. Return is 3/4" pvc a couple unions for easy cleaning or changes; I also plumbed a T with a valve that can divert flow to a reactor or perhaps a UV sterilizer, that was part of the package (haven't done much research). On the left is my RO nwb 150 space saver so excited to see this thing in action!

Basically the most utd shot of the tank except I've now had it up and running with tap water the last couple days as a final leak test for the tank and all plumbing. this has the t5's on as well I believe this is two coral plus and one purple but they came with it I'm planning on ordering 8 new bulbs. I will move any progress to a build thread just wanted to give an idea of the setup. thanks
