For the idea of doing the two sides in stages, if you are adding rock to a system that already has fish or coral in it I would use live rock. Before adding it to the tank I would let it cure in a seperate bin to make sure that you don't have any die off that could cause a cycle in the tank. If you use dry rock to add than you definitly would want to let it cure in a seperate bin. Again this is going based on adding rock to a system that has stuff in it.
 
Should be good than, hopefully someone else will verify that. Biggest thing is that you don't want to set your tank into a cycle once you have things in it ;)
 
Indeed that wouldn't be too great lol.

Im 100% gonna try do a gully style rock scape or at least attempt to, gonna have a play about with a the rock later and see what happens :)
 
Agreed. You would (once you have livestock in the tank) only be able to add cured live rock. You can still buy dry rock and cure it yourself to save some/a lot of money.
