Hi everyone, I’ve just started my first saltwater tank. I 4 freshwater tanks going and have always wanted to try saltwater.

I started with a 32g Biocube in January and have just added my first 2 clownfish to the display tank (after quarantine).

I’m nervous about the transition, but I’m enjoying the process and learning about a whole new ecosystem.

Welcome! You'll find the maintenance and overall attention that a salt tank needs is higher! I keep some freshwater still and they are basically "set it and forget it" as long as I keep up with water changes. Patience is the key with saltwater! Good things take time! Good luck! You have found a great resource.

I do not know fresh water at all, keeping some goldfish alive in my basement for my wife till it warms up outside...

but I have had some friends say that with fresh, there is a lot of work to get them set up just the way you want, then you just sit back and watch and feed, while in salt, it is a near constant process of measure, monitor, adapt and adjust. Part of what I like about it

So good luck, lots of folks here to help

Welcome! Glad you joined. Sounds like you are well on your way!

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:
