New to reef2reef and new to hobby i have a 32biocube that i bought from a local fish store used (it was one of his displays)2 months into it and im 100% addicted
ive recently started to get rid of the stock parts and upgrade the tank:
Jebao pp4 wave maker to replace the coralife circulation pump
IM mightyjet 326 to replace the coralife s1000 return pump
The heater and lights are next on my to do list however i upgraded to filtration to the
Intank media basket (filter floss/purigen/and some kind of ceramic bio media cubes in a mesh bag that came with the tank)

now in tank recomends chemipure.....

a employee at my local fish store told me i cant remove that bio media to switch to chemipure because it will crash my tank and put it into a mini cycle killing all my corals and fish.
now another fish store told me that i can just switch to chemipure and media should be replaced every 3 months anyway because most of my good bacteria is in my live rock in the dispay and i shouldnt have to worry about anything since the tank is so established already

So can i switch to chemi pure or not ??????
Also any sugestions on other upgrades?

Hello and welcome to R2R :) it's a pleasure to have you here with us ;)
I Haven't used chemi pure so I can't say but wanted to say welcome anyway ;) I'm sure someone here will be able to help you!

Welcome to R2R! Is there any rock in the tank? How much?

Yes you can switch to chemipure. I would recommend getting the Chemipure Blue. I used Chemipure Elite for about 2 years, and then Chemipure Blue came out and I’ve been using that for about 3 years. I change it out every 2 months or so. Be sure to rinse it with RO before putting it in your media basket.

Not sure on the exact weight but here’s a pic

Thanks for the quick response so it’s totally safe to take out my old media?

Based on this pic, I think you should lower the brain coral a little bit. They prefer a low-med light and low flow. If it’s happy there, then feel free to leave it, just my thought.

Yes, do it either right before a water change, or during a water change, and make that water change 20% larger than normal

Originally before I purchased the tank it was on the sandbed after I took it home and set it up it shrunk up down there I moved it to the top and it doubled in size over night I’ve left it there ever since I would like to get it back down to the sandbed if possible

Maybe try lowering it to about halfway down in the rockwork work about 2-3 weeks, see how it does, and if it does okay, then move it to the sandbed and it should be fine from there.
