Hey everyone, I wanted to introduce myself. I'm Chris and Im new to this site.. Ive been a reefer for about 6 years. I started out when my buddy who was into saltwater had an extra tank and needed some cash. So I bought what would be my first reef tank, a simple little 40g tall but it was unique because it had a mirrored back custom made. So I was off. With his help and old school advice, I set it up w some pretty crummy equipment. Were talking (wait for it...) undergravel filter under crushed coral, and a fluval canister filter (neither worked very well and gave me more problems than helped) so both were gone fairly quickly lol.. But I was still so proud of it. Came home at lunch every day staring at it hoping something new would move or appear. I built my own oak mh canopy and wired up a 250w mh and hung it over top to replace the 50/50 bulbs I had.. Fast forward 6 years and a few upgrades and I am still so eager to come home for lunch and stare at tank hoping something looks better or has grown.. Im very picky and everything has to be just right. I have now a 150g tall that's rimless and has a starfire front and glass holes dual overflow. Its a mixed reef that has some sps but mostly lps and zoa/paly dominant. Im running a 36" marineland pro mh/t5 fixture, Eheim 1262 return, Eshopps skimmer, 2 sicce voyager 3 pumps, custom rimless 30g sump and 24" led moonlight by Icecap.

Welcome Chris! Sounds you had a good start. LOL. . . Can't wait to see some pictures of your tank. :D

hmm. . .

If you see on the 'tool bar' above the text window, the little "Picture" button. If you hover over it, it will say "Image". Click that, Than select from URL. Than in the little tying line past your link in there. Than, If it is your own personal image you'll have to Un-check the warning below "Retrieve remote file and reference locally". Than just hit okay. Once you do that it will automatically add it to your text window.

Sweet! It worked. I am sorry if my instructions were a little rough to follow. LOL

Anyway, The tank looks awesome. Did you have the tank custom built or purchase it that way?

Yea I finally tried unclicking that retrieve locally option lol

HA! Yeah, I ran into the same thing myself. Tank is awesome though!

What kind of Clownfish do you have? They kind of look like Mis-barred Clownfish. I can't tell entirely. Either way, they look awesome!

Thank you.. Now if I can figure out how to get pics from facebook and my hard drive on here then I'll post some pics of my old tanks..

That, I can't help you with. LOL. . . Looking forward to it though. :thumb:

Sweet! I love clownfish! They are one of the fish that I got me into this hobby. I've had so many different types. I even bred them for about 2yrs. I just recently stopped in order to move into my new house. I plan to get back into it soon. Love the pictures!

They are both percs.. One is an onyx hybrid and the other one is a Picasso maybe? Really im not and expert on the different names but they both look very cool. :)

They are both beautiful! I love them. I wish I could give my Black ice Clownfish an anemone to chill in. But I unfortunately am too stocked with corals. I'm afraid the Anemone would cause more harm than good. :(

Welcome. Nice lookin tank. What part of se michigan ya from? Im sure you've been to tropicorium before, yeah? Its a must see.
