Hi my name is Paul. Ive been lurking around on this forum ever since I started reefing, and thought it was about time I introduce myself. Its the least I can do for all the knowledge I have obtained from this site. I am actually intimidated by the vast knowledge of the members of this site but here goes nothing.
Lets start with a little about myself. I have been active duty army since 2008, being in the military has been a great experience that I would not trade for anything. Ive been reefing for about 3 years and still have the same 30 gallon that I started with. Ive finally upgraded to a 90 gallon reef ready which I am very excited about. Ive almost upgraded about a 100 times since I started but ultimately knew that it would be impossible due to deployments and other aspect of the military. Ive decided not to reenlist and will be getting out this summer. Hence the new upgrade.
Reef keeping is unlike any hobby that i have ever been apart of. No matter how crappy of a day i'm having, just sitting in front of the tank for 5 minutes will work wonders for your state of mind. I love the commitment it takes to have a successful tank. The one thing I don't like about this hobby is the cost. This is an expensive hobby, but I love every minute of it.
Now a little about my new tank.
Marineland reef ready 90 gallon
trigger systems ruby 36
diy stand (I am no carpenter and this project kicked my butt.)
hydra 26 x2 (plan to add t5 retro with the 26's in the future)
reef octopus 152s skimmer
jebao rw8 x2
jebao dc9000 return
brs dual carbon gfo reactor fed by mj1200
tunze ato
70 lbs of live rock (supplementing about 6 liters of seachem matrix to free up space in the tank).
no livestock as of yet. tank has been cycled for about a month. I think Im going to let it go for another month just to make sure to take it slow.
I appreciate you for taking your time to read this. I hope to get to know a lot of you guys in the future.
Thanks, Paul
