New to reefing and looking to get beginner corals

Duncan’s are amazing and I recommend that you put it on a separate rock or in the sand bed.

Out of all the corals I started with years ago a hammer and some mushrooms are all that survived my mistakes/bad decisions when I started. I lost a lost of higher end zoas to algae outbreaks early on. Definitely mushrooms but some LPS are also good beginner coral. Plate coral for example are easy as long as you don't accidentally bury them.
