New to reefing, did I skip the cycling process?

awaiting test kit verification/not a prob

% likelihood of ammonia test kit branding in reefing when levels are reported: api 95% likely, red sea 4.9% likely, any other brand of non digital test kit is .09% chance and seneye is .01% chance

those animals on the rocks don't want to be hit with raw ammonia, but T has done studies showing they can tolerate astounding levels so go ahead and bathe 'em

the ammonia will be reduced in fifteen minutes if this was a seneye cycle. if this is an api cycle, I can show several times where reefs that havent even input a single test load register at 8 stated ppm with all fish, corals just fine and water clear as a bell. mis testing has to be accounted for, we all know about the api thing the Op just hasn't been told about it

most likely the api/ whatever the test is/ will show a reduction overnite but it may not go to hard zero.

red sea does the same thing. my honest efforts are to relay the risk from disease, from skipping those preps, that is where all initial fish losses happen.

all reef conventions that have ever ran since the 70's use this type of cycle approach, and not one time did the sellers add ammonia to verify, they're resolved. it's the buyers who are taught to fear and doubt, so that they buy reinforcements.

the advice in cycling that sellers use at a reef convention is polar opposite of the advice taught to buyers, for a reason

I was relaying the seller's info, it's better. it's also very good training for the OP to believe instincts/thread title.
