Hi Everyone!

I've just become the proud owner of a Waterbox 70.2 and in the process of setting it up.
Have come across this page and thought I better sign up as it appears to be full of great info and friendly people.

I've never had a marine tank before and only about 4 months ago did I get a small fresh water tank in the house so it's still all very new to me. Certainly a bit daunting reading/learning about the marine side of things. After a month or so of thinking about it and looking things up about it and spending hours and hours watching youtube videos about it, I figure what better way to learn than actually doing it.

Hopefully look forward to having a very successful marine tank and learning a whole lot of new things from you all.

hi welcome to the reef going to love it here!!
lots of fun/info/fun/help/fun.. :)

Thanks for the warm welcome, will certainly have to set up a build thread.
I'm from WA also @ReefRusty, have you been at it for long?

I've been having a bit of drama with the real reef rock and trying to get it set up in a way we were happy with and being stable.
The Coral gum is a pain to use and wasn't doing what I wanted and looks a bit blergh, decided to start using superglue to start trying to get it to hold a bit and that's been a bit hit and miss. Thankfully got the rock in the tank and set up in some reasonable way. Still not 100% how I'd prefer it, but I'm really over messing with the rock now lol.

Hahaha fun times, dont worry I spent a good 10 hours on my rock before been satisfied with it. I used the reef cement which held it together better than anything.. I found the tunze gum worked better in cooler conditions but more for light rocks.

I have only just finished with the cycle of my tank used MicroBacter Start XLM kit. Up and running for 15 days now. Large WC today and will add some life tomorrow some CUC.

Bought real reef rock from Aquarium Gallery however its dry rock been imported so reasonably dead on arrival.

Let me know if you need help. Look forward to your journey.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I bought from those guys as well. They suggested the reef cement but was told it'd dry white and I thought it'd look odd with the purple-ish real reef rock. The gum seems to hold if you manage to find right pieces to add it to, but it looks pretty average as well.
Dealing with the rock and trying to get something that looks good and using something that actually holds has been a little frustrating to say the least.
After trying to use superglue gel everywhere on it after I'd set it up how I liked the look of it's still not stuck after an hour or so and everything literally moved immediately. Might as well have been pva glue.

As already said set up a build thread when you get chance, and Welcome to R2R!!!

And you might find this helpful if you haven’t seen it already

Welcome!! Beautiful tank- I’d recommend getting your rock set up before anything else. I made the mistake of settling, and 3 months in, I had to juggle corals around while messing with my rocks cause I was unhappy with it. Maybe while it cycles you can do that :) best of luck! I look forward to seeing your build thread

Thanks! I went and got myself some stonefix yesterday, should've just used that from the start, would've caused a lot less stress and running about. The stuff works fast!

Will look into setting up a build thread :)
