hey yall, i have been a freshwater man for years, but have always dreamed of trying reefing yet never grew the gonads to just go for it.
I actually almost started in saltwater a while ago and bought an RODI unit, but then chickened out, and have been using it for freshwater, so that was already covered. Recently i decided i would take down my 20 tall and start reefing with a pico. i had planned everything i would need, and was looking to start purchasing parts. as i was looking for more parts online, the Red sea reefer series caught my eye, and i convinced myself i needed to go for a Reefer 350 and just use the 20tall for QT. i started saving up for the Reefer and was looking forward to the day i can afford one.
one day whilst browsing one of my LFS that carries mostly chinese stuff, i noticed they have some very nice looking rimless tanks. what caught my eye were the seams between the vertical glass panes. the contacting edges on the vertical glass panes were ground 45 degrees, so instead of ugly butt joints like we see on literally every tank, the joints looked actually "beautiful" to me in a way. the glass panes were all ultra clear, with no corner silicone strips that obstruct the view inside. the owners let me know that they had in stock a tank pretty much the same size as the reefer 350, and looked prettier than the reefer i saw in the other LFS and so i changed plans once again.
fast forward to today, i have the chinese tank (Made by Yi Ding if anyone is interested.) sitting in my sunroom being leak tested. i am very much looking forward to the day this thing is in its final place and looking beautiful. i will create a full build log here on R2R, please follow me and give me advice on my journey when i do start it up!
i am a sponge right know, soaking in all the information i get, and am planning to do everything slowly and properly. thank you all in advance for educating me in the way of reefing.
