Thanks for letting me join this group. Clearly lots of experience I can learn from, I’m into the hobby for just over a year now and am fascinated by just how fragile this hobby can be! This is my second tank upgrading from a starter 95litre ....to a home made 220litre tank split in two to protect the clowns, it’s all one system with a rear sump tank skimmer.
The main tank overflows into a second display Area and then back into sump table on the kitchen bar.
It’s taken me ages to build and lots of nerves drilling glass and testing the tank.
...realising afterwards that covering the tank causes higher co2 levels and lower ph...realising I had my lights on too high....learning the cost of these errors!
I’m now Working at reducing phosphate levels ( nitrates at near zero) and have been through a battle with various algae’s but hopefully getting there with some stable conditions soon using a fire light and chaeto and also limited nopox diy and broadcast feeding to keep up the nutrients.
Love the fish and corals and love the depth of knowledge and passion this hobby brings out in everyone.
Cheers all!
James
