New to Reefing

Hello everyone. My name is Perry and I live in Leesburg, Al. <--- that is about 20 miles south of Gadsden. I right now have a 125 gallon set up. Here is a link to pictures and specs of my tank. https://www.reef2reef.com/forums/f130/need-help-identifying-things-my-live-38328-2.html

I was trying to upgrad my fresh water tank then I met a guy in petco who knew all about salt water tanks and indirectly talked me into getting into reefing so now here I am. My aquarium is cyled and I have a few corals mainly mushrooms and 1 green zoa frag. I need more but have spent all of my money for now. I want to get a toadstool leather soon but guess it will have to wait for now.

Anyway I just wanted to introduce myself and get to know all of you in my area. I will need help from time to time due to the fact I am still learning.

Welcome to R2R Perry? I'm in Huntsville but there are several other people in the Birmingham club that you will want to talk with and attend a meeting. I'm sure they will chime in.

There is also a wealth of information here at Reef2Reef. Good luck and looking forward to meeting you at a meeting or a swap.

Yes I am about the same distance from Birmingham as I am to Huntsville. I am an hour and a half from anywhere I go were it is Birmingham, Huntsville or Chattanooga. I am right slap in the middle. I have searched to see when a meeting is but do not see one in the near future.

Hey glad to have you this site is great.. We are planning our next Birmingham meeting now I'm wanting us to go back to Tritons garden so were looking into when is good for everybody. You are welcome to any of our meetings also . You can't go wrong going to a Narc meeting either always good stuff.

For that matter, any of the area clubs are very welcoming... NARC, BARF, Chattanooga.... it seems like everyone wants to help and share what they know and what they have.

Leesburg? I thought it was over on Weiss Lake, around Cedar Bluff. At any rate, welcome to R2R and make sure to visit all the area clubs, you won't be disappointed.

I also used to think I knew all about reefing. Then I joined NARC and found many many different ways to reef.

Now I realize I don't know everything.

With that very limited knowledge and experience, I recommend you first get the plant life (macro algaes, corraline algae) going then do the rest.
