New to saltwater aquariums

I am new to this forum and saltwater aquariums. I have had freshwater aquariums over the years (nothing currently), I have always liked and wanted saltwater but never did, well now is the time. What would be some suggestions that you could make that will help me make good choices for starting and being successful? You know, things that you wish you had known or been told when starting.

I am currently thinking of about 30-50 gallon tank with fish and live rock, not currently thinking about Coral. Would this be a good starter size? I know it is a big difference in tank size but I haven't 100% decided on location in our house.

I started with a 40 gallon breeder, which is right inbetween where you're looking to get, and it's worked out perfectly for me But go as big as you're comfortable with

Welcome to R2R! my advice to you would be to research everything you are considering adding to your aquarium, this includes equipment, rocks, water, salt, fish, corals, etc. The more you research the better your first time experience will be. Also research doesn't have to be something you do by yourself, reach out on here for advice, recommendations, and user experience. In the end, you'll be able to enjoy your tank so much more without worrying nearly as much

One thing i picked up on is buying new is expensive so if your on a budget look for someone that is selling the full setup
Another thing is that starting out with bleached and acid washed rocks is the way to go
Always dip coral doesn’t matter where it came from
Thoroughly inspect anything you put in your tank fish, inverts, coral, rocks ....
Start slow with a good cure and a good cycle will help you keep nutrients low from the getgo
Personally i like the reefer series look into the 170

Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes. I am going to be getting everything slowly so please be patient with me. I have purchased a new aquarium, before I start to add the live rock, sand and saltwater should I clean the new tank glass and with what?

Easiest just to wash it with a vinegar/water solution. Rinse it out well and you're good to go.
