New to saltwater tanks

Well its definitely not happy… what are your water parameters? The sand in the background looks very white. How old is the tank? I don’t see any live rock. I see a plant in the background. Some alarm bells are ringing based on what I can see…

Plant? Or torch? But yes, a surrounding environment shot would help I'm wondering if it's the digestive filaments like a mushrooms, my Duncan's or nems might put out to capture something ... Or when they "poop".

You don't know what you have in your tank? 7 different sizes of what? How about that full tank shot and we can help you figure it out? It's been a couple days, what has the critter in your picture doing since?

I saw your post in your tank intro and the pics those are anemones. They eat meat. They eat and poop out of their mouths. When they do either, the fibers from their stomach comes out to start the digestion process... Then it sucks all the fibers back in with the already digesting food. It poops the same way, just in reverse. I believe that's what the ball is. It's startling to see it! Did it go away?

Possibly feeding too large of pieces. Anemone require solid lighting, good parameters and a mature tank. If you do decide to feed, make sure it's mysis size and don't force it.

If you look at the OP's tank intro thread it appears it's a lagoon build. I'm going to bet the nem ate one of those minnows... Thus the big ball.
