Hello all, I have been lurking around here for a month or so now while I have collected supplies for my first saltwater set up. I have a 55g opentop that will have 50 lbs of rock and 60 lbs of sand. I will be running a canister for the time being and will also have a Hydor Slim Skim running as well. I am using dual Kessil a150 with an addational blue led as a moon light. I have also ordered a Apex Lite controller. This thing has cost a fortune already and it does not evel have any water in it yet, lol. I did go ahead and purchase a BRS RO/DI system so I didn't have to worry about shuttling water.

Welcome to R2R! Yes this is an expensive hobby.. But Well Worth it once you have your tank up and adding Life!! So you plan on doing a Reef Tank?

Duff-
Indeed I am looking to add reef as I can. I am doing a ton of reading and attempting to absorb as much as I can. I am limited to the amount of room that I have right now so I can't go bigger and a cube won't fit in the area where it needs to go, so that is why I went with the 55. I don't have a hobby that isn't expensive for some reason, I am also a triathlete and a maraton runner so I am forever buying toys and goodies so this just seems to add to the pile.

Welcome to Reef 2 Reef! Seems you're doing it right, getting your expensive pile of stuff together before filling the tank.

Mike the pile only seems to grow by the day, recieved BRS dry rock and sand yesterday. I think my UPS man is beginning to hate me already.
