I am new to saltwater aquariums and was just given a 30 gal tank setup not sure if I have everything I need or where to start setting it up. It was setup but hadn't been running in awhile. Any and all help and suggestions are welcome. Also not pictured is the nova extreme 2x24 t5 light.

. Bit of an open ended question being that we dont know what you want to acheive. My advice is look around and see what you want for example, fish only, reef and if so sps lps softies mix, what kind of fish you want. Once you decide on that then we can start to discuss ideas one what you will need. Oh and dont listen to those who say get softies cause they are a good beginner coral and clowns etc. If you want sps or anemones go for it just do it right and research. Getting something that is beginner friendly to only tear down in a few months or sit there and wish you did something else insted and not happy with it. Saltwater is a patience game dont get impatient and rush things. There is also alot of ways to do the same thing and acheive the same outcome example protein skimmer vs refugium vs algae scrubber. You need to decide what is best for you and give it ago. Also another thing that i think is important is how much work do you want to do after the tank is complete in maintenance. If you want to feed every couple of days and change water once a month to every other month and have an ok looking tank or you are willing to do weekly maint and have a spectacular display. Also a budget is good to set early as this hobby can really blow the bank.
