Hello, I have just set up a new marine tank. It is a 30 gallon half moon. I just got it set up yesterday. I have added 40 pounds of live sand, 30 pounds of dry rock, added my water, and just checked my water after a 24 hour run. I will mention I added bio- spira at the 24 hour mark. I am in no hurry to add fish, I just wanted to help stabilize the tank. It looked like milk for the first 12 hours. At 24 hours it is fairly clear. I have been snooping here for about three weeks trying to learn and familiarize myself around the marine world. I plan on making this a reef tank when I am ready, it may be awhile [smiles). I have already got the the “bug” thinking of bigger better, baby steps for now though. I plan on a clown, cardinals and a clean up crew. One at a time of course, nice and slow... I plan on waiting for the tank to truly stabilize before adding fish, I am thinking if it has cycled correctly then sometime in August. I checked my salinity and it was a touch high, I have made the adjustments, will check it again shortly. Anyways thanks for the site, I will be back often I am sure. I will post pic”s soon. Thanks!

Welcome to R2R!!! It sounds like you are off to a good start! Slow is a good general rule of thumb in reefing...
