I swear the 5kg seachem Matrix I've run since day one is my reason for low nitrates. Brought it over to this tank from my 6 footer which also had 0 nitrates. I personally wouldn't run a tank without it now.
what you just leave it in a media bag?

I just purchased some will place in sump on Tues. Is yours submerged? Or water runs over it kinda like bio balls?

I have 5 X 1kg bags under rock & chateau chambers in my sump. I rinse the bags in old saltwater every 3 months. You can see them in left & right chambers.

Slower flow the better. Lower flow area with be more likely to grow nitrate eating bacteria. Mine are under rocks & chatea

Yes I will have to let that work its magic. I just changed my active carbon back to a phosphate remover in my gfo because my sps is browning out

The far left used to be purple and the middle one. The lower left closest to the glass is a Jason fox flame that has lost its green tips. I hat losig coral and have been trying to straighten the tank out similar to yours. Started out with burnt tips. Now is browning

To my knowledge ( limited ) high phos is a major cause of browning. Alk in particular swings is cause of bleaching. They also require much higher flow than lps. They look like they are on sand ? If they are bring them higher.

I have them about 6 inches off the sand on a frag rack bringing them up where I want them in the tank. I have lots of flow with a wp40 on one side of the tank a wp25 on the other and a vortex tec mp10 also its a 90 display I've added the wp40 since this picture

What is "5kg seachem Matrix" I am having trouble getting my nitrates below 20

@Lesley did you ever have a problem with phosphate?
yes I did, I am a terrible over feeder. I feed the tank at min. 5-6 times a day. comes with the territory of owning tangs I am afraid. So I quickly realised that changing my rowa every 6 weeks was not going to cut it. I bought the Hanna egg Phos checker and changed out rowa until my numbers reached 0.03. I now test weekly and the min my numbers at 0.05 or higher I change out 1 of the 2 rowa reactors. To keep numbers ok. and steady.
I actually think this was my major problem with browning when I first stated buying.

I would say you have the hang of it! The tank looks awesome, keep up the good work my friend!
