Hi Chameleon. I bought my first tank used so I started out moving, lol. I have learned a lot in a short time due to that move and subsequent tank changes and then this most recent move. My trick is to have water ready at the new location and to move all the water I possibly can so that I don't have to acclimate everything. Rubbermaid totes and Brute trashcans are my best friends. This time I messed up because I was so tired that we waited over 24 hours to get everything in the display once we were here and I lost a yellow tang and a hawkfish. I am sure it was due to low O2 content because I didn't have the powerhead in that tote moving the surface of the water. Other than the two fish all I lost was one coral. I have an encrusting gorgonian that hasn't regained full extension yet and my long spine urchin must have gotten his spikes above the surface of the water more than once because he had a lot of broken spines that didn't end up in the bottom of the tote, but everything else looks great. Don't be afraid to move. I had so many people tell me I would lose everything but I figured if my corals could be shipped to me fedex in a sealed bag they could handle a trip on the trailer. I believe it was Harry who replied that I should be okay and it made me feel a lot more comfortable.

I have learned that contrary to popular belief this hobby isn't rocket science, it's more about consistant care. My motto: Just plan ahead and go for it.

The montipora you gave me when I bought some of your old stuff is still doing well! The 2 pieces that broke grew together and its growing great now. Glad the move went well, you shoulda told me, I would have come help you pack up the tank stuff!
