Hello All,

I just wanted to introduce myself and warn you that i will be a royal pain in your collective read ends for a while. My name is John and I work and live in the Dallas, TX area. I just picked up a 75 gallon acrylic aquarium and stand this weekend and am working on building my first reef tank. I've kept various african cichlids for about 15 years, and have always wanted to do a reef tank. I am an avid scuba diver and watcher of any underwater wildlife special on netflix/amazon, and have always wanted to have my own little reef ecosystem at home to sit in front of with a glass of wine in the evenings and unwind. The amount of work involved to maintain it has kept me away for a while, but i'm ready now.

I spent a couple of hours with an incredible woman at Fish Gallery last week and she answered every noob question i could come up with and was one of the reasons i now have the confidence that i'm ready to tackle this new challenge. She highly recommended i come here and register and start reading some of the information you guys have put together here.

I'll start a thread in the appropriate forum (once i find it) with my build progress and related questions. I'm very happy to be here and look forward to getting to know some of you better and learn from your collective experience!

Welcome! Something tells me you were talking to @melpyr1985 at the Fish Gallery...
I'm a DFW resident as well, we are fortunate to have many lfs and an active reefing community in the area. Be sure to check out the local clubs as well. There are several fragswaps and other events throughout the year

Welcome and I wish you well on your new build. Acrylic is my speciality. Just take care on the decorating and cleaning methods to avoid scratches and you will be golden.

It was certainly great to meet you! I'm glad you decided to join... this is a great community and yes.... we are addicted to pictures! I hope to see you at the store again soon :)

Welcome to Reef 2 Reef. Lot of helpful folks here for sure. Do you still have any African cichlids? I kept a 125 gal mbuna tank for a long time.
I have a small 20g that my son got bored with so i re-purposed it as a a demasoni tank. This is my first experience with them...they are super feisty!
