Hi, My names Larry and just joined R2R forum! I (at this point) am going to have to say I'm new to the reef scene. Not really, but it's been 25 years since I had a saltwater tank! I'm sure there's a lot that hasn't changed, but on the other hand I'm also sure that the hobby has changed tremendously since I had my last 60g in San Diego where I grew up. I used to run up to Scripps and fill buckets from their water spigots when I had my last one for water changes. Since I now live in NW Ohio, I think it may just be a little far to do that! I had what I called a show tank back then and am now going to give my shot at a reef tank. I recently picked up a used tank setup. It's now sitting empty and I'm going to need some help getting everything together before I go and jump the gun and have to buy things twice because I bought the wrong thing! The new tank is 72lx24hx18w. It came with some crushed coral in the bottom, 200# of what used to be live rock (it sat empty and not even cleaned out for two years!), a wet/dry sump with no pump, a Penguin over the back filter, test kit and asst. other small stuff. Picked p the whole setup for $500. There is no lighting with it. I guess I'm going to start researching the lighting options, which are really confusing me now at this point. I just threw some fluorescent actinic lighting on my old one years ago because that's all we knew, but the lighting options out now are just overwhelming! I guess that's all for my introduction post. I'm familiar with forums, I'm almost always on one of the Jeep forums for one of my 3 jeeps so I guess I just added to my internet time! Well, off to research lighting!!
