Hello fellas. Stopped in at WWC today on my way home and they mentioned I check this out.
I was thoroughly impressed with WWC, as was my wife, and 4 week old daughter :D

Anyways, after a year hiatus, and the new daughter, I need an in-home hobby.

So tomorrow I'm going to be ordering a *gasp* glass cages 100g rimless cube. It's going to be a long build as I'm working as funds become available, but it'll all be done right the first time. Controller, skimmer, halides (likely, as t5's would be tricky to run over a 36" cube), etc.

Welcome to R2R!

Welcome to R2R! I'm sure Victor, Lou, and the gang took good care of you. They are some of the best. Look forward to seeing some pics of the new setup!

Awesome can't wait to see this build!
Welcome to R2R!

Also if you do a DIY T5ho fixture you could pull it off ;)
Just saying! haha

yeah I'm deliberating.............cost/benefit will come into play. I'm thinking two 175w halides w/ decent reflectors might win out. Don't think I want the heat generation of 250w halides, plus I don't think I need 500w on a 100g tank.

I want enough light to grow any coral available (lps on the sand bed, SPS, etc.) without much trouble.

don't rule out T5's. If you're in FL and have halides on the tank, you will need some decent fans or a chiller (latter of which is expensive). T5's don't put out much heat and can grow SPS and LPS without issues. Just a thought.

I agree.... don't count the T5's out.
If you want to run 2 - 175 MH, why not just run 2 - 6 lamp 36" T5 fixtures?
Less heat, less power, less evavporation and great penetration.

Will you be back to WWC next Saturday for the 3rd Anniversary Party?
I will be there, wouldn't miss it for the world.
Lou, Victor and the gang are the very best.

Look forward to tagging along as you start your build thread.

Welcome to R2R! Keep us posted on your new tank!:D

Price is a factor. 6 bulb 36" fixtures aren't exactly cheap! Nor is replacing 12 bulbs, haha. I like T5's, don't get me wrong. I mean, my wife wants me to get t5's instead of halides, but I don't think she realizes the price difference.

As for WWC's party, I can't go. I'd previously set up a party at my house and we've got guests who rsvp'd. I'm kinda mad, I wanted to pick up some drygoods on sale in preparation for the new tank. I was too tempted to buy some corals yesterday, but I have no tank to put 'em in! :xd:

Welcome to R2R!!! Sounds like a nice tank! Can't wait to see build pics (hint hint).

Thanks guys.
I've decided I'll buy two sunlight supply tek fixtures, 4 bulb each. 8 bulbs on an 18" deep tank should be plenty!

I'll be getting the tank saturday. It'll be a while before I have the lights purchased, then I'll need a skimmer, need to figure out a sump, get LR, etc.
