Hi all!!
I am new to the forum. As a mater of introduction, I am Mexican, living in
Mexico City. I was into reefing 25 years ago, so long ago that I can’t even
remember the size of my tank. I was mostly a DIY’er, lamps and sump to skimmers. Back then I
had limited access to information (early stages of the Internet and printed magazines!), I didn’t have much money to spare in the tank, but a lot of time back then. I am now taking
again the hobby. It is amazing the amount of new technology, methods, and
gadgets. Controllers blew my mind. I already got one!
So I am close to wet my tank. It is a Red Sea Reefer 170. I have already put
together a saltwater mixing station with RO/DI filter, custom made the lamp
support, and a small side cabinet to hold all the equipment, as well as a DIY
system to ease the water changes (a 5 gal container connected to the sump that I can close with a ball valve, take it to the saltwater station, substitute the water and complete the WC).
I already cured the rock (dry fuji rock that I gor from a LFS), and I am still deciding on the acquascaping. As soon as I finnish with all the connections, I will start my cycling.
I got an aqualife lamp to combine T5´s and a Kessil 360- I am planning to
experiment a little with DSB and no skimmer. Got an Vortech MP-10, VariosS-4 return
pump, and an ATO.
Eventually I will put together a refugium, but that will be a later project.
I am really excited and wish I would have more time to push this faster,
but work and family keeps getting in the way
Thanks all.
