Hey everyone!

My name is Allen and while new to these forums I've frequented other online forums in the past.

I've had a fish tank since I was about 10, mostly freshwater or planted until after college. I stumbled into an amazing saltwater store a few years back in Jacksonville, FL (Bio-reef) and was hooked instantly. I still make the 2 hour drive there from time to time to press my face against the glass of their show tanks.

I read books, online articles, anything I could get my hands on. My first saltwater tank was a 55 gallon, that I'm embarrassed about looking back on. Fowlr, but I learned some valuable lessons. I upgraded to a 75, then 125, back down to a 90, then recently to a 150 high.

I live in the Hilton Head, SC area and lost everything tank related recently due to hurricane matthew. 7 days without power and 10 days without potable water is never good for a tank.

I'm getting things back together and starting with a fresh build, but it is on hold while our house is remodeled due to the water and tree damage it received.

I like working with my hands. I'm a carpenter by trade and I'm the Operations Manager for a remodeling company. I try and do as many DIY projects as I can when it comes to my tanks, as it makes me feel more connected to it.

I'll save the rest for another day, but that is a little about myself. I look forward to getting to know you guys better!

Well!

Officially!!

Welcome aboard, Allen!

I hope you continue to find our little "home-on-the-'net" to be both informative and supportive.

(And thread-readers, if you didn't check out Allen's 40-gallon sump build at the link above, go back up there and do it!)
