Tank is a bit small and new for a mandarin. Do you plan to breed copepods or purchase weekly? Mandarins can eat several hundred pods a day.

Feeding weekly got him 3 days ago from a shop who didnt even sell the pods for the fish he sells so for now poding weekly dropped 1 k in there today. Ya I know Way new from what ive read but wife wants so she gets lol.

Have a 55g long. Will be transferred to if all go well hear. But trying my luck with this 26 bow b4 I go all in deep in 55g and sump ect.

You could try hatching brine eggs. Hatcheries are pretty cheap and easy and newly hatched brine is pretty nutritious and most mandarins will eat them. It is a lot of work to feed the newly hatched because you have to do it daily.

Good advice thank you very much. Gotta do sumthing fast dont wanna starve the lil guy anymore the the pet shop I got him from. The pods today filled his sunken belly a lil. Ty for heads up on eggs

Check out Paul B's thread "Tank birthday, 40 years". Its a long thread but he has a pair of mandarins that spawn regularly, which is a sign of excellent health. He made a simple feeder so the mandarins can feed on pods or newly hatched brine all day without fouling the tank. It looked very simple to make with easy to attain materials.
