I'm starting my first coral reef tank, actually first salt water tank. I got a 29g biocube through trade that use to be active but has just been cycling RO water for the last few months. Had dead sand and dry rock and the second chamber had bioballs.

I switched out all of the water with saltwater I got at my lfs. I'm also treating it with 5ml of microbacter7 each day. Added 13 lbs of live rock, got rid of most of the bioballs and added bioblock and filter floss in the chamber.

I'm planning on starting with 2 clowns, maybe a gobi and 1 or 2 other small fish. Also going to start with the 5-10$ section when it comes to corals to get a feel for it.

As I am knew to the hobby, I am open to any suggestions on what fish to pair, what corals (preferably soft) to add and of anyone knows how to get rid of the waterfall sound in the second chamber.

Welcome to R2R!!! It looks like you are off to a good start. If you haven't read it already, I encourage you to read the following R2R article:

Welcome to r2r! Maybe a pic of the 2nd chamber so we can see what's going on?
It looks like it's just because the lip from the drip tray holder (totally useless) is pushing the water out. Since I'm not using the tray, I'm thinking about just cutting the lip out.

What kind of coral were looking at in the $5-$10 section? Corals like GSP and Xenia can become a nuisance.

Honestly I'm still trying to do my research on corals. I'm a fan of soft corals because I love the waving motion in the current... I know, I'm easily entertained.

Will flow smoother over the wall with the lip gone but i think it might still be noisy with the drop in water level. Might have to add some filter media to build it up a bit.

Duncan's and Elegance coral flow in the water nicely and don't cost too much.

Kinda figured that, I've got a chunk of bioblock in it but it's like a 2x2 square so it doesnt do much. Might add some more love rock to it.
