Hello, everyone! I have been enoying all of the posts I've read over the past few weeks. This seems like a really great group of hobbyists. I am not new to freshwater aquariums, and not to reef tanks either, but it has been over 25 years since I tore down my 75 gallon reef tank, and I am just now getting back into the "sport." I'm a biology prof and just bought a 32 gal BioCube for our lounge because it seemed less hassle than re-acquiring all the stuff I got rid of all those years ago. Imagine my surprise when I discovered all-in-one really isn't quite accurate. In any case, I am now nearly ready to begin the start cycle, and have a question: Once I have this cube on the stand, how do I see what's going on in the back other than what is visible from the top? In my old tank, I just used a large canister filter and high flow returns. Everything was external to the tank. I thought about a low rolling platform, but I can just see some group of freshmen boys trying to wheel it out of the building for an open house party. Any pics or description of how you see what's going on back there would be great. Thanks!

Welcome to R2R! All-In-Ones are a little more difficult to see exactly what's going on than their larger sump brethren. Usually, once you get used too them, they are somewhat easier to maintain than external filtration tanks. A decent small flashlight will let you see just about everything as the sump is not very deep and you quickly get used to using long tweezers or weirdly contorted fingers to get things done.

Great! So I take that to mean no need to actually turn it around for a peek? That warms my heart! Thanks!

Hello and Welcome to R2R! I have 3 tanks and one of them is also a 32 biocube. I placed a pre filter above the first filter and clean them both once a week. I put in a foam that the water would flow through and clean that about every 6 months. The inside are gets cleaned every 9 months. I have plenty of copepods which thrive in this area. I really don't care as much about what goes on in the back as the tank looks great!
