New to the hobby and need help

Not that it's revelant but I'm guessing you are a Marine. If so Ooh Rah! I have a aquatic life light and have it programmed to have the blues come on at 8:30 and go off at 21:00. My whites come on at 10:30 and go off at 20:00. Moon light on at 21:00 and off at 00:00.I would definitely recommend a clean up crew I have a diamond goby to help keep the sand bed clean. My son is in the Corp he is stationed in Hawaii with the 1/3

Thanks for the setup info. Currently mine is setup for blues at 0800 to 2000 whites 1000 to 1700 and lunars 2000 to 0600. I plan on changing it to run only about 8 hrs a day. And tell your son semper fi and thanks for serving

Nice tank!
I agree with Mike. Just give it some time. Some snails and hermit crabs would be beneficial. Adjusting the light period would help too.

Update to algae issue. After lights out for 3 days adding a small clean up crew and finally changing my light schedule. Everything is looking much better.

I would like to thank everyone for there advice it was well received. Looking forward to talking with everyone while I get deeper into this hobby.

Also my light originally came with 2- blue, 2- white and the moon lights. My LFS recommended 2- blue, and 1- purple and one white. It definitely looks better. And you will need to change them yearly.
