Hi all! I'm new to the hobby this is my setup. I have a 90 gallon and a 65 gallon. The 65 gallon is mad by RedSea. It was originally an all in one, but I modified it a bit so it could fit a CPR overflow box. So far no problems with it. I've heard some mixed review on those overflows. It overflows into a Icecap 15 sump. I have three return pumps in the Icecap. One goes to the 65 gallon, one goes to a 45 gallon refugium, and one goes to the sump below the 90 gallon. The 90 gallon drains into a Trigger Systems Ruby Sump. I drilled two overflows into this sump. One is an emergency, just in case. It drains into the Icecap sump as well. The lowest point of my system is in the return chamber of the Icecap, so that is where my autotop off system feeds. The reason I have two systems right now is I was looking for a protein skimmer (I had one from the fish only tank I had years ago but it had broke). I wanted to just find a used one until I decided what I really wanted. I ended up getting the 90 gallon system (protein skimmer, tank, trigger systems sump, 120lbs of live rock, a second tunze ato, a t5 fixture, usa current led fixture, a bunch of additives, an acropora, montipora, frogspawn, anemone, wrasse, and a bunch of other stuff for $600). So yeah now I have two tanks. Like I said, they are all plumbed together to make my life easier. I like just having to have one auto top off system (well two atos in the same system for redundancy). I also have a spectrapure ro/di that I purchased their water level metering contraption. It basically has a solenoid that turns on and off in my reservoir to keep it filled. So hopefully I never have to worry about topping off the system or forgetting to turn off the ro/di.
I bought the 65 gallon about a month and a half ago and it had been cycling in the fish store for about 3 months. It just had water, sand, and a piece of live rock. I added more rock and a dotty back. Then I added two clowns and had a big algae bloom. The new 90 gallon has an algae bloom too, so I'll probably be dealing with algae for a while. Just added a clean up crew today. I'll probably order another in a week.
My next steps will probably be to purchase some LEDs. I have an LED over the 45 refugium, and probably will end up putting them over both tanks too. I also going to invest in the neptune apex in the next month or two. After that dosing pumps. I also have a 10 gallon sitting next to my PC (you can see it in a picture below). I'd like to drill it and plumb it to the main system so I can have a nano next to me while I'm on the computer.
I think that's about it for my system. I'm terrible and plumbing and whatnot, so don't make too much fun of me. I'm still cleaning, organizing, and doing cable management, so its a mess right now. But hey its pretty fun.
